Apple Pirozhki Recipe

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup warm milk
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 packet active dry yeast
• 1 egg
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted
• 2 large apples, peeled and diced
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• Oil for frying


. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, egg, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
. In the meantime, mix diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
. Roll out the dough into small circles and place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each circle.
. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
