Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined. Rest the dough if too sticky.
  5. Divide the cookie dough into two halves; use food coloring to tint one half for Sally's cookies.
  6. Shape Jack's cookies by scooping jagged dough balls on one baking sheet, and shape Sally’s clustered dough on the other.
  7. Bake the cookies for 8-9 minutes until the edges are set. Let them cool on the baking sheet.
