Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Open the cinnamon rolls and flatten them slightly, then arrange half of the rolls in the greased baking dish.
- Bake for about 10 minutes until slightly puffed.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in whipped topping gently.
- Mix the apple pie filling with cinnamon and nutmeg if using, stirring until well combined.
- Layer half of the apple mixture over the base, then half of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat with remaining mixtures.
- Top with remaining cinnamon rolls, pressing down gently.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, removing foil in the last 5 minutes to brown.
- Let cool slightly, then drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm.
