Scalloped Potatoes

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme leaves (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour and stir for 1-2 minutes until well combined.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  5. Stir in the salt and black pepper.
  6. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
