Ingredients:
• 2 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup cocoa powder
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• cocoa powder, for dusting
Directions:
. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk until just combined.
. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly. Arrange the sliced pears on top of the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the pears and smooth the top.
