Dark Black Velvet Cake Recipe

Indulge in the darkness with our decadent Dark Black Velvet Cake! 
This rich treat is topped with luscious chocolate cream frosting for the ultimate dessert experience.


• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1¾ cups granulated sugar
• ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1½ tsp baking powder
• 1½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup buttermilk
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup hot water
• 1 tbsp instant coffee granules (optional)
•. Few drops of Black food coloring [ optional]

For the chocolate cream frosting:

• 1½ cups heavy cream
• 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 3 tbsp powdered sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract


. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
. In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
. Add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, food coloring to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
. Stir in hot water and instant coffee granules until the batter is smooth.
. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the chocolate cream frosting:

. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to boil.
. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
. Allow the frosting to cool and thicken slightly before using.
Once the cakes are cooled, frost one layer with chocolate cream frosting, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting. Enjoy every indulgent bite!
