Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon


  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes or until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the bowl, whisking until well combined.
  3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together orange zest, orange juice, softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon to make the filling.
  8. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle.
  9. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  10. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  11. Place the rolls in the greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
