• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 3 large eggs
• 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 1 cup whole milk
• Yellow food coloring (optional)


. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
. If desired, add a few drops of yellow food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
