Ingredients

For the Meatloaf
  • 2 medium Carrots Adds sweetness and moisture; zucchini can be used for a unique taste.
  • 2 stalks Celery Provides a satisfying crunch; can be omitted if not on hand.
  • 1 medium Onion Enhances the overall flavor; use yellow or white onions for best results.
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey The main protein source; try chicken or lentils for a vegetarian option.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder to keep the loaf together; substitute with flaxseed meal for a vegan version.
  • 1 cup Old Fashioned Oats Adds texture and fiber, but breadcrumbs work well too!
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavors; sea salt will deepen the taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Adds a mild heat; red pepper flakes can kick it up a notch.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Offers a flavorful punch; fresh garlic can be swapped in at a lower quantity.
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano Brings a lovely herbal note; Italian seasoning makes a great alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Adds smokiness and color; smoked paprika intensifies the flavor.
For the Sweet + Spicy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Maple Syrup Brings natural sweetness and complexity; can be swapped with honey (not vegan).
  • 1/2 cup Organic Ketchup Provides tang and depth; homemade ketchup is a fresher choice.
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha Introduces heat; use your favorite hot sauce or reduce for a milder flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste Thickens the sauce and enriches the flavor; tomato sauce can work in a pinch, just adjust for liquid.
