Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in 1/4 cup of very cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup of raisins until evenly distributed.
  5. Gradually pour in 3/4 cup of milk and mix until the dough begins to come together.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it out to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out rounds using a round cutter and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush tops with beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  9. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
