Step-by-Step Instructions for Southern Meatloaf
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a rimmed sheet pan with nonstick foil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine dried breadcrumbs, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in milk, egg, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Add the ground beef and minced onion to the breadcrumb mixture and combine gently.
  4. Transfer the mixture to your prepared sheet pan and shape it into a narrow loaf, about 2-3 inches high.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper until blended.
  6. Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf and bake for 35 minutes. Brush on the remaining glaze and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes.
  7. Once done, remove from oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
