  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce or coconut aminos for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch use gluten-free if needed
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper adjust to taste
For the Stir-Fry
  • 2 Bell Peppers mix of colors
  • 1 Onion yellow or sweet
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil or olive/sesame oil
For the Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar optional
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips, about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Chop two bell peppers and one onion into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine sliced steak with half of the soy sauce, black pepper, and cornstarch. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir-fry chopped onions and peppers for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add remaining oil to the skillet, then sear the marinated beef strips for about 2 minutes on each side.
  6. Whisk together remaining soy sauce, water, minced garlic, sugar, and sesame oil. Pour over cooked steak, add vegetables back, and cook for 2 additional minutes.
