Ingredients
  

Marinade

  • 0.25 cups Mirin Rice vinegar can be used as an alternative.
  • 2 inches Ginger Use fresh ginger for best flavor.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Adjust based on preference.
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Oil Olive oil can be a substitute.
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar White vinegar works as a substitute.
  • 0.5 Apple Any sweet apple enhances the marinade.
  • 2 tbsp Sweetener Use honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tsp Pepper Adjust based on spice tolerance.
Chicken
  • Chicken Quarters Thighs or drumsticks can be used.
Garnish
  • 2 stalks Green Onion Chives can be a substitute.
  • Sesame Seeds Optional for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a blender, combine the soy sauce, mirin, fresh ginger, garlic, sesame oil, rice vinegar, apple, sweetener, and pepper. Blend until smooth.
  2. Cut slits into the chicken legs, place in a zip-top bag, pour marinade, seal and marinate for 1-2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade, place in air fryer basket in a single layer, and cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
