Step-by-Step Instructions for Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic
- Begin by chopping the cabbage, onion, garlic, and carrots into bite-sized pieces, ensuring everything is ready to go.
- In a large skillet, place chopped bacon over medium heat. Cook for about 6–8 minutes or until it becomes crispy and golden brown. Transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, leaving some bacon fat in the skillet.
- With the skillet still over medium heat, add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the bacon fat. Sauté for about 2–3 minutes until fragrant and translucent. Then add the chopped cabbage and carrots, stirring occasionally. Cook for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until the cabbage starts to wilt but retains its vibrant color.
- Once the cabbage has softened and is tender but still slightly crunchy, carefully add the crispy bacon back into the skillet. Stir well to combine all the flavors together.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to your preference. Serve hot as a comforting side dish.
