Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 pound Flank steak or sirloin Ribeye or top round can be used as substitutes
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce Hoisin sauce can replace it if needed
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Arrowroot can be used as an alternative
For the Veggies
  • 1 large Bell pepper Snap peas or carrots can be used as substitutes
  • 2 cups Broccoli florets Asparagus or bok choy are good alternatives
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic is best, but garlic powder can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Ground ginger is fine if fresh is unavailable
  • 3 stalks Green onions Chives can provide a similar taste
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil Sesame oil adds extra flavor if desired
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil Can be omitted if you're out
  • Salt For seasoning to taste
  • Pepper For seasoning to taste
For Serving
  • 4 cups Cooked rice or noodles Any type of cooked grain or noodle can be used

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Slice flank steak or sirloin against the grain. Combine with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch in a bowl to marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Wash and slice bell pepper into strips. Chop broccoli into pieces and slice green onions.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add marinated beef in a single layer, browning undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove beef from pan and set aside. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds, then add bell pepper and broccoli to stir-fry for about 5 minutes.
  6. Return beef to the pan, add sesame oil, and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything together for 2 more minutes.
  7. Serve over rice or noodles and garnish with green onions.
