Ingredients

For the Main Dish
  • 1 pound Ground Beef lean (80/20)
  • 1 medium Cabbage green or purple
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce low-sodium optional
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce optional
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil or olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger fresh, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt to taste
For the Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds optional

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Stirring frequently, allow it to brown for about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. With the browned beef still in the skillet, toss in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent and tender.
  3. Stir in the shredded cabbage, ensuring it mixes well with the beef and aromatics. Pour in the soy sauce and optional oyster sauce. Add the sesame oil, grated ginger, black pepper, and salt.
  4. Increase the heat slightly and sauté the mixture for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cabbage is tender yet retains some crunch.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasonings if necessary. Remove from heat once you are happy with the flavor.
  6. Serve the dish hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
