- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the herbed tomato sauce with a pinch of salt and freshly chopped basil. Stir until incorporated.
- Drain the canned sardines lightly, retaining some oil, and layer them in the bottom of your baking tin.
- Pour the herbed tomato mixture over the sardines and sprinkle generous mozzarella on top.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm with crusty bread.
