Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the herbed tomato sauce with a pinch of salt and freshly chopped basil. Stir until incorporated.
  3. Drain the canned sardines lightly, retaining some oil, and layer them in the bottom of your baking tin.
  4. Pour the herbed tomato mixture over the sardines and sprinkle generous mozzarella on top.
  5. Bake for approximately 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm with crusty bread.
