Step-by-Step Instructions for picnic idea Blueberry Grilled Cheese
- In a small saucepan, combine fresh or frozen blueberries with sugar over medium heat. Cook for 5–7 minutes, gently mashing the blueberries with a fork as they soften.
- Spread a generous layer of cream cheese or brie on one side of each slice of your chosen bread for the Blueberry Grilled Cheese.
- On two selected slices, layer a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella or fontina cheese over the cream cheese. Evenly spoon the cooled blueberry mixture on top of the cheese.
- Gently place the remaining bread slices on top, cream cheese side down, to form two sandwiches. Press down lightly to ensure the ingredients stick together.
- Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat. Butter the outer sides of each assembled sandwich generously. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, remove the Blueberry Grilled Cheese from the skillet and let them rest for 1–2 minutes. Slice each sandwich diagonally and sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
- Plate the sandwiches while they're warm and consider pairing with a light arugula salad or a comforting bowl of tomato soup.
