  • 24 oz Spaghetti Sauce your favorite brand
  • 15 oz Tomato Sauce low-sodium versions recommended
  • 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning fresh herbs optional
Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz Cottage Cheese low-fat optional
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese softened
  • 8 oz Sour Cream Greek yogurt is a substitute
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp Dried Parsley fresh parsley is an alternative
Topping
  • 16 oz Mozzarella Cheese buffalo mozzarella is premium option
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather ingredients and equipment.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage or ground beef for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Add spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning to meat in the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, beaten egg, and dried parsley until smooth.
  5. In a baking dish, spread 1/3 of the meat sauce, layer 4 noodles, followed by 1/3 cheese mixture and 1/3 mozzarella. Repeat twice more and finish with remaining meat sauce.
  6. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 55 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
