Step-by-Step Instructions for Caramel Dipped Pears
  1. Begin by selecting fresh Bosc pears, wash and dry thoroughly.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and cream. Stir continuously until it reaches a golden brown color and 240°F.
  3. Remove the caramel from heat and let it cool slightly. Dip each pear into the caramel, twisting for an even coat.
  4. Allow excess caramel to drip back into the saucepan before laying the pears on a parchment-lined tray.
  5. Before the caramel hardens, sprinkle each pear with flaky sea salt or drizzle chocolate; press on crushed nuts if desired.
  6. Let the caramel cool and harden completely at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
