Ingredients

For the Glaze
  • 1 cup Apricot Jam Use store-bought for convenience.
  • 1 cup Apricot Nectar Substitute with any other fruit nectar if needed.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Crushed; fresh garlic is best for the richest taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Finely grated; ground ginger works if fresh isn't available.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Fresh onion can be used as a substitute if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Optional if you're using fresh garlic.
For the Chicken
  • 1.5 kg Chicken Wing Nibbles Already trimmed for easy eating.
  • 1 spray Olive Oil Spray Substitute with any cooking spray.
For Garnish
  • to taste Green Onions Thinly sliced; optional if you want to keep it simple.
  • to taste Toasted Sesame Seeds Feel free to use any nuts or seeds you prefer.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Grill or frying pan
  • Basting brush

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine apricot jam, apricot nectar, crushed garlic, finely grated ginger, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set the stove to medium heat and stir the mixture frequently. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes until it thickens and becomes sticky, creating a lovely glaze. Reserve ½ cup of this glaze for later use.
  2. While the glaze is cooking, preheat your grill or frying pan to medium-high heat. Season the chicken wing nibbles with salt and spray them lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Once the grill is hot, carefully place the seasoned chicken wings on it. Cook for approximately 15 minutes, flipping them frequently to ensure they become golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  4. After the wings have achieved a nice golden color, take the reserved apricot glaze and brush it generously over each wing. Continue cooking the wings for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the glaze to caramelize slightly and adhere to the wings.
  5. Once cooked through, remove the sticky apricot chicken wings from the grill and place them on a serving platter. Sprinkle thinly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately, accompanied by any extra glaze on the side.
