Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the red onions and slice them into thick rounds, approximately half an inch.
  2. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle with kosher salt and black pepper, and toss gently.
Grilling
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C).
  2. Place the onion rounds on the grates and grill each side for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Whisk together balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  4. Brush the balsamic glaze on the onions with about 2 minutes left of grilling.
  5. Remove onions from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
