- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined.
- Pour the marinade over 1½-inch cubes of tri-tip steak in a sealable bag or dish, ensuring they're evenly coated. Seal and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- Chop the pineapple, red bell pepper, and sweet onion into 1½-inch pieces.
- Assemble skewers by alternating steak, pineapple, red bell pepper, and sweet onion.
- Mix together the reserved marinade, honey, and ketchup to create the basting sauce.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350°F to 400°F).
- Grill the skewers for about 15 minutes, turning every 2-3 minutes. Baste during the last few minutes.
- Allow the skewers to rest a few minutes before garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
