- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, thoroughly mash 3 medium ripe bananas until they form a smooth mixture, leaving a few lumps for texture.
- Incorporate 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of sugar into the mashed bananas, blending until creamy and fluffy.
- Add 2 room-temperature eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredient mixture into the banana batter, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk.
- In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup of cold, cubed butter with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of additional flour to prepare the crumb topping.
- Pour half of the banana batter into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle half of the crumb topping over it; repeat with the remaining batter and topping.
- Bake for about 50 minutes; check for doneness with a toothpick.

Notes
Ensure bananas have lots of brown spots for flavor. Avoid overmixing the batter for a light texture. Use cold butter for the topping for a crunchy texture.
