Nougat Preparation
- In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, honey, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a gentle boil and the sugar is fully dissolved, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the egg whites, salt, and vanilla extract. Whisk thoroughly until everything is combined and the mixture is smooth; let it cool for about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, add your chopped nuts and dried fruits and stir well to ensure even distribution.
- Pour the warm sugar mixture over the nut and fruit combination. Gently fold the mixture until all ingredients are well-coated and incorporated.
- Line a baking dish with parchment paper. Transfer the nougat mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly and pressing down firmly.
- Allow the nougat candy to cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour, then lift it from the dish using the parchment overhang and cut it into bars.
