- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped yellow onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened and translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
- Add the lean ground beef and brown for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart.
- Sprinkle salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and dried oregano over the beef mixture and stir well.
- Add the chopped green cabbage to the skillet and stir well to combine. Cook for about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in the rinsed long-grain white rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix thoroughly.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Remove the lid and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole. Bake for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Allow to rest for 5 minutes and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
