Best Fried Green Tomatoes


  • 4 green tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil


  1. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. ????????
  2. In a separate shallow dish, beat together the eggs and milk.
  3. In a third shallow dish, mix together the cornmeal and bread crumbs.
  4. Dip each tomato slice first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the cornmeal mixture to coat.
