• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 3 large eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 1/4 cup poppy seeds
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 tsp salt

For the Frosting:

• 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
• 1/2 cup powdered sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.
. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
. For the frosting, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
. Once the cakes are cool, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer and place the second layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
. Serve and enjoy!
