Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups day-old bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

For the vanilla sauce:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. ????️????
  2. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes and raisins.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, white sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually stir in the melted butter.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread mixture and stir gently to coat.
  6. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown. ????????
  8. While the pudding is baking, make the vanilla sauce. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  9. Stir in the white sugar and heavy cream and bring to a boil.
  10. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  11. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  12. Serve the bread pudding warm with vanilla sauce drizzled on top. ????????
